Sara Battaglia RTW Spring 2019

8 monthes ago   |   By

A sophisticated elegance infused with references to the Fifties and the Sixties continues to be Sara Battaglia's trademark.
For spring, the designer played with bold colors, including yellow, blue, hot pink and orange, which she combined with flattering silhouettes. For example, she crafted shiny taffeta for a maxi A-line tunic dress and an elongated sleeveless top matched with coordinated pants. Metallic details decorated the cutouts of an off-the shoulder flared minidress, while a classic striped shirt was manipulated to become a cute frock with a square neckline and ribbons on the...

Tiziano Guardini RTW Spring 2019

8 monthes ago   |   By

A champion of sustainable fashion, designer Tiziano Guardini was selected by Mercedes-Benz for the latest edition of its Global Fashion Engagement program supporting young talents, and she made her catwalk debut at Milan Fashion Week with a joyful, summery collection celebrating nature.
Inspired by an African fairy tale, Guardini chose the hummingbird as the symbol of her lineup. The tiny bird appeared in a tropical camouflage pattern splashed on several unisex pieces, from polo shirts crafted with a yarn made from castor oil to parkas and Windbreakers realized in a regenerated...

Raquel Diniz RTW Spring 2019

8 monthes ago   |   By

Daryl Hannah was the muse who inspired Raquel Diniz's collection of elegant, flattering dresses. South Californian and Texan references mingled in the lineup, which looked breezy, glamorous and fit for a posh summer garden party.
Floral patterns took center stage. Worked in different tones, from bright yellow and hot pink to white mixed with pale green and purple, the botanical motifs gave a hyper feminine elan to maxi frocks cut in different silhouettes. They spanned from off-the-shoulder bohemian designs to fluid styles embellished with bows at the shoulders.
Offering her personal take...

Giamba RTW Spring 2019

8 monthes ago   |   By

Inspired by the “Second Summer of Love,” the period in the late Eighties, which saw the rise of acid house music, Giambattista Valli staged an imaginative “Third Summer of Love.” A bohemian vibe met psychedelic influences in the pretty lineup.
Breezy maxidresses were splashed with floral patterns with a trippy feeling and revisited paisley motifs adorned flowing caftan-inspired frocks. Macramé feathers embellished the sleeves of a T-shirt, as well as the neckline of a chic red silk dress, its bodice punctuated with ruffles.
Charming separates introduced a more quotidian appeal into the...

F.R.S. RTW Spring 2019

8 monthes ago   |   By

Memories of a trip into India and other Asian destinations inspired Francesca Ruffini for spring.
Rajasthan's monkeys, depicted eating red berries, popped up on a chic silk shirtdress with the cuffs embellished with a geometric motif, while a Vietnamese tropical forest was reflected in the nocturnal print splashed on both a column dress enriched by a soft bow at the collar and on a lightweight organza robe coat.
While the maxi magnolia pattern of a blazer with satin lapels was flamboyant and eye-catching, the tiny Japanese flowers blossoming on a kimono-inspired frock had a more delicate...

Genny RTW Spring 2019

8 monthes ago   |   By

Sara Cavazza Facchini played with fluid fabrics and transparencies for this upbeat collection that had a mid-century Mediterranean holiday feel. A flared, sea blue belted coat - something Audrey Hepburn might have worn - opened the show, while one of the prettiest pieces in the lineup was a dark bougainvillea pink gown that enveloped the model like a fresh mist.
A bright palm and flower print drifted across fluid jumpsuits, some with kimono tops, and a long caftan-style dress with a high collar. The designer also played with transparencies, whipping up a clear plastic cape that looked as...

First announced earlier this week , Moncler Genius took to Milan Fashion Week to debut its initial Spring/Summer 2019 collections. Instead of bringing along the clothing, the brand elected to host a projection-filled exhibition, showcasing new gear from the likes of fragment design and Craig Green .
Encompassing a host of immersive videos, the showcase offered a first look at the new Genius collections. As guests walked through an emptied-out industrial building near the Fondazione Prada, they glimpsed new lines from - in order - Craig Green, Noir Kei Ninomiya , fragment design, 1952 and...

Cristina Ottaviano RTW Spring 2019

8 monthes ago   |   By

During the first week of June, eveningwear designer Cristina Ottaviano took a trip to Lake Como, which resulted in a fluid, water-inspired spring collection. The designer's mills are also based in the region, giving her the opportunity to go into them and design the pieces while she was there, which she described as “phenomenal.” The result included abstract interpretations - an off-the-shoulder gown with a printed sequin and stretch tulle base and bustier that mimicked the texture and feel of water or a strapless white gown with gold herringbone bugle cascading across the bust and down...
